Day 143: S.f.M – The Lighthouse and the Whaler’s “Pioneers”

Though its title is more imaginative than the final product, The Lighthouse and the Whaler’s overlooked “Pioneers” has more kick to it than the type of light indie fair you might confuse it for.  Channeling Ezra Koenig while somehow managing to avoid all the navel gazing, lead singer Michael LoPresti is more catalyst than narrator, grasping onto melody rather than parsable content.  Relative weight aside, “Pioneers” certainly isn’t a half bad choice to soundtrack the wind down of your summer.  Listen below:
